According to author Sara Hess, season 2 of House of the Dragon will focus on the romance between Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) and Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.

The prequel series, which is around 200 years before the events of the popular HBO series Game of Thrones, focuses on the conflict within House Targaryen after King Viserys I Targaryenchose Rhaenyra as his apparent successor.

After that, they relocated to Dragonstone, where they had two children: Viserys II Targaryen and Aegon II Targaryen.

As shown by Daemon’s brutal decapitation of Ser Vaemond Velaryon (Wil Johnson) after he questions Rhaenyra’s children’s lineage, Rhaenyra’s first three children.

Hess recently hinted that House of the Dragon season 2 will go more into Daemon and Rhaenyra’s romance in an interview with THR.

Only two episodes of season one featured the two after their wedding, with the couple being married at the conclusion of episode 7 and not appearing in episode 9.

The author acknowledges that they are presently working on the future season and utilizing Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin to assist them in analyzing the couple’s connection.

As Rhaenyra kept giving birth to children with dark hair, speculations about Ser Harwin Strong (Ryan Corr), the presumed father, started to circulate.

Many people would not view Jacerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey as the legitimate successors of the kingdom if Rhaenyra gained power.

Their Targaryen heritage is no longer in doubt, but since Otto took the throne, the damage has been done, and war is now imminent.
