Sarah Paulson  has been cast in the lead role of Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller film Dust

Claire Foy (The Crown), who was first chosen for the role in June 2020 but had to drop out owing to schedule issues, will be replaced by Paulson.

Paulson's character, a "young mother who is plagued by the past as she encounters a frightening presence and takes great steps to safeguard her family," is the focus of the horror-thriller film, a Hulu original.

Paulson's as-yet-unnamed character's horrifying predicament is made worse by the fact that she is also stranded in a dangerous dust storm that has descended upon Oklahoma in the 1930s.

Paulson's character, a "young mother who is plagued by the past as she encounters a frightening presence and takes great steps to safeguard her family," is the focus of the horror-thriller film, a Hulu original.

Paulson will also serve as an executive producer on Dust, which will be the latest in a long line of projects she has worked on with Searchlight Pictures.

She has previously starred in acclaimed Searchlight films like Martha Marcy May Marlene and the historical drama 12 Years a Slave. 

. For their latest project, Searchlight executives, David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield have expressed excitement about working with Paulson 

 “Sarah is an extraordinary artist and we are thrilled to be working with her again.”

Paulson has demonstrated her expertise in the horror genre with several roles in the Ryan Murphy anthology horror television series, American Horror Story (AHS) 

A release date is yet to be set for Dust, however, it is confirmed that the horror thriller will stream on Hulu.
