Ryan Gosling is upset that Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie were not nominated for Oscars for "Barbie"

Barbie's lack of an Oscar nomination for Best Actress is a source of frustration for Ken. To him, Ken would not exist without Barbie.

Ryan Gosling, who played Ken in the Academy Awards and received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor, talked candidly about his co-star Margot Robbie's rejection from the Best Actress race.

 Furthermore, he finds it incomprehensible that Greta Gerwig isn't up for Best Director.

In addition to thanking Gosling for the nomination, he took a moment to highlight his colleagues' lackluster performance.

Gosling is nominated for Best Supporting Actor alongside Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Robert De Niro, and Sterling K. Brown.

"I am extremely honored to be nominated by my colleagues alongside such remarkable artists in a year of so many great films," Gosling said in a statement released late on Tuesday. I'm also immensely honored and delighted that it's for playing a plastic doll named Ken, something I never thought I'd be saying."

"Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie are the two people most responsible for this history-making, internationally celebrated film," Ryan said, expressing his disappointment that Robbie and Gerwig were not nominated for their work that brought the iconic plastic doll to life in Barbie the movie.

“No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit, and genius,” he added. “To say that I am disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement.”
