The popular Syfy series Resident Alien’s third season may be a little bit shorter than anticipated.

According to Deadline, the popular sitcom starring Alan Tudyk will now have eight episodes instead of the initial 12 in its newest season.

It is somewhat unexpected for what was formerly thought to be one of Syfy’s mainstay series.

Back in 2021, when Season 1 made its debut, it immediately became a hit for the network, attracting strong viewership and receiving a Certified Fresh rating from Rotten Tomatoes after wowing both reviewers and viewers.

Even more so than Season 1, Season 2 was a success in its first half, placing among the top 15 cable shows and the top 5 dramas.

But the second season’s second half experienced a significant ratings decline that, along with a general decline in review scores.

Despite the fall, the series garnered its first Saturn Award nomination and was nominated for Best Cable Comedy Series at the Hollywood Critics Association TV Awards once more.

The change makes this season of Resident Alien the shortest one yet.

Following the success of the first season, Season 2 was expanded to 16 episodes.

After the enormous success of Season 2’s first half, Syfy initially renewed the show for a third season back in July.
