Olivia Wilde is avoiding all the rumours. Wilde was joined at the 2022 Venice Film Festival by the cast of her new film Don't Worry Darling, which stars Harry Styles in the lead role and Chris Pine and Gemma Chan in supporting roles.

The key female protagonist Florence Pugh was missing from the cast, which sparked online outrage and fed rumours of a simmering conflict between Wilde and Pugh.

It was a "sad" Pugh could not attend the news conference, Wilde said, adding that she was asked about the rumours while at the press conference.

To which Wilde replied, "Florence is a force, and we are so grateful that she's able to make it tonight despite being in production on Dune."

Wilde went on, "I know, as a director, how disruptive it is to lose an actor even for a day, so I'm very grateful to her, to Denis Villeneuve for helping us."

She continued, "And we're really thrilled we'll get to celebrate her work tonight. I can't say enough how honored I am to have her as our lead. She's amazing in the film."
