Recently, Netflix executive Peter Friedlander explained why it took so long to approve The Sandman Season 2.
In an interview with Variety, Friedlander the president of UCAN scripted TV at Netflix discussed the delay in the streaming giant’s approval of the second batch of Sandman episodes.

“"We wanted to take the time to talk over and discuss the strategy with showrunner Allan Heinberg and co-creator of The Sandman Neil Gaiman because Season 1 is also very intentional and planned. So, getting our ducks in a row took more time than expected.”
Several months after the first season’s debut, in November 2022, Netflix formally announced that The Sandman will return for a second season.
The Sandman’s ardent following, who worried that the show’s high viewership numbers wouldn’t be sufficient to warrant more seasons, was relieved by this good news.
The Sandman’s future, however, came under further scrutiny in December 2022 after rumors that Warner Bros.
Discovery CEO David Zaslav was dissatisfied with the studio’s current Netflix partnerships.
This contains The Sandman, a Warner Bros.-produced version of the same-named DC Comics series written by Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg.
