Squid Game, Netflix’s most popular series, has been renewed for a second season.

Netflix unveiled the second season of the Korean thriller programme Squid Game on social media on Sunday.

Netflix informed fans of the news via a note from Hwang Dong-hyuk, the writer, director, producer, and creator of Squid Game.

The show’s first season was released last year to critical praise and widespread popularity among viewers.

The sequel had been in the works, and Netflix executives as well as the show’s writer, director, and executive producerthe primary actors had teased a return after the first installment’s overwhelming popularity.

Cheol-su confirmed the upcoming chapter in a message to fans, revealing who might return for it and what new character will join the programme.

Netflix confirmed the news in the first tweet, saying “Red light… GREENLIGHT! Squid Game is officially coming back for Season 2.”

Squid Game is a film about cash-strapped people competing in children’s games for the chance to win a great sum of money, but the losers have no choice but to die.

The show was once the most-watched Netflix series on the planet.
