Despite Henry Cavill's departure from the DC Universe as Superman, plans for The Witcher season 4's recast will go forward as scheduled.

Many people expected that Cavill will return for upcoming DCU productions as the legendary hero Superman after his successful return in Black Adam.

Cavill won't probably be a part of the upcoming Superman relaunch, according to fresh information from James Gunn, the new co-CEO and co-chair of DC Studios.

The DCU will focus on bringing a younger version of Superman into the fold.

Fans of Cavill's interpretation of the DC character were disappointed by the revelation, but they harboured hopes that the actor's departure from Superman would allow him to continue in The Witcher past season 3 rather than being replaced by Liam Hemsworth in season 4.

Many people conjectured that Cavill was leaving the Netflix series to concentrate on his role in the DC franchise after the news of his The Witcher recasting in late October coincided with his appearance in Black Adam.

This raised the possibility that he might return if he was no longer associated with Superman. Gizmodo, however, now reports that a Netflix executive claims that's not the case.

The character's destiny after season 4 is a little hazy because Cavill's farewell message about leaving The Witcher stated that Hemsworth will take over for him.

Given that Lauren Schmidt-Hissrich, who oversees The Witcher, has previously spoken of a seven-season plan for the fantasy series, this may provide room for Cavill to return after The Witcher season 4, especially given that he will no longer be associated with the DC Universe.

After season 4, if the significant fan outrage to Cavill's recasting persisted, perhaps the showrunners would think about asking Cavill to return to the part of Geralt for season 5.

Of course, given the persistent rumours of artistic differences between the actor and the showrunners, it's plausible that Cavill's departure from The Witcher had nothing to do with his duties as Superman.
