As Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe begins, the most immediate trends seem to be magic, multiverses, and the impact of Blip - the disaster that caused half of all living creatures to disappear for five years.

Marvel is taking a step back with Ms. Marvel, the newest superhero show on Disney+, with a story that feels more relatable and real than anything else the company has done recently.

Animated sequences by Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), the soon-to-be Ms. World, open the first episode directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah and written by Bisha K. Ali.

Marvel  at the moment is merely a Captain Marvel superfan.

In this video of Kamala's YouTube channel, she goes into great detail about the Avengers' battle against Thanos, namely how Carol Danvers is responsible for their victory.

It might feel repetitive to longtime Marvel fans, but it sets up Kamala's personality beautifully.

Kamala Khan holds the distinction of being the MCU's first Muslim superhero, and the Khans are all practicing Muslims.

It is interesting to see how each family member practices their faith to varying degrees in the first episode.
