The Rise of Gru follows a twelve-year-old boy's ambition to become the world's greatest supervillain.

The film depicts the boy's attempts to join the Vicious 6, his favourite supervillain ensemble.

Kevin, Stuart, Bob, Otto, and the rest of the Minions (Pierre Coffin), Gru (Steve Carell), Belle Bottom (Taraji P. Henson), Master Chow (Michelle Yeoh), Jean Clawed (Jean-Claude Van Damme), Dr. Nefario (Russell Brand), and Marlena (Julie Andrews) are among the characters who appear in the film.

The film is a follow-up to the 2015 prequel Minions.

A twelve-year-old Felonius Gru is growing up in the suburbs during the 1970s. Gru, a fan of the Vicious 6, a supervillain ensemble, devises a strategy to become bad enough to join them.

Gru interviews to join the Vicious 6 after their captain, famed fighter Wild Knuckles, is fired.

It doesn't go well, and it only gets worse when Gru takes from them and becomes the mortal adversary of the ultimate evil.

Gru will seek support from an unlikely source, Wild Knuckles himself, while on the run, and realise that even evil guys need a little help from their friends.
