One of the numerous cancellations at HBO Max is the forthcoming animated holiday special Merry Little Batman.

This, however, is just one of many animation projects from Warner Bros. that are presently hoping to be picked up by other platforms.

The special was initially slated to air on Cartoon Network’s ACME Night show before being streamed on HBO Max at a later date when it was first announced in September 2021.

The story would centre on six-year-old Damian Wayne, who must transform into Little Batman in order to save Wayne Manor and all of Gotham City from the villains who intend to ruin Christmas.

It’s a sweet twist on the traditional plot of Batman-related stories. Mike Roth of Regular Show was supposed to executive produce and helm the film.

Many subscribers are perplexed by the company’s decisions after hearing about the termination of Merry Little Batman along with several other cancellation announcements from HBO Max, including a planned The Amazing World of Gumball movie and 36 title removals from the streaming library.

In view of intentions to combine HBO Max and Discovery+, the approach of cancellation and removal has been adopted.

In a statement describing the preparation for the merger, HBO Max stated that changing the total content provided by both streamers is necessary in order to combine the two streaming services’ archives onto one platform.

A number of significant changes were also brought about by the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery in April of this year, including layoffs, additional shows withdrawals, and series cancellations, one of which being the highly publicised ending of Batgirl
