Jurassic Park actors Laura Dern, 55, and Sam Neill, 74, have revisited their performances as botanist Dr Ellie Sattler and paleontologist Dr Alan Grant in the hit film.

Laura Dern, 55, and Sam Neill, 74, reprised their roles as botanist Dr Ellie Sattler and palaeontologist Dr Alan Grant in the hit film Jurassic Park.

When they were 25 and 44 years old, they pondered on having a 19-year age disparity as fictional love interests.

The performers admitted that having such a huge age gap seemed "fitting" in retrospect.

"Well, it felt absolutely appropriate to fall in love with Sam [Neill]," Laura explained.

And it wasn't until tonight, when we returned in a cultural awareness moment about patriarchy, that I was like, "Wow!" 'How come we're not the same age?'

Sam agreed with his co-star, saying that 19 years was "a perfectly reasonable age difference for a starring man and lady" at the time.

"It never occurred to me until I opened a magazine and there was an article called 'Old Geezers and Gals,' which featured individuals like Harrison Ford and Sean Connery acting alongside considerably younger people," he told the Sunday Times.
