Kate Hudson to star in Mindy Kaling's newest Netflix romantic comedy series

The Los Angeles Lakers President Jeanie Buss, who is also an executive producer on the film and the family company that is the NBA franchise, is the inspiration behind Kate Hudson's upcoming comedy series. 

In June 2021, more than two years ago, Netflix ordered the project straight to series.

As co-creator of Netflix's teen dramedy Never Have I Ever, Kaling's connection with the streaming service is further enhanced with the new project. 

In 2022, Rian Johnson's Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery for Netflix starring Kate Hudson, a Golden Globe winner and Oscar nominee for Almost Famous. 

 Feature films Marshall and Deepwater Horizon, as well as the second season of Apple TV+'s Truth Be Told, are among the other recent credits.

In the new series, Hudson will portray Isla Gordon, the lone sister in a family of rival brothers.

 Isla has never felt valued in her life, but when her brother is forced to step down as President of the Los Angeles Waves professional basketball team due to scandal, she is named to take over and has the opportunity to establish her worth in the family business.
