John Legend is being transparent about his relationship with Kanye West right now.

The All of Me singer explained that their bad relationship was caused by Kanye's support for former US President Donald Trump, his own 2020 presidential candidacy, and disagreements in their political ideologies.

In an interview with The Axe Files podcast, Legend stated, "We aren't friends as much as we used to be."

The singer went on to share, via People "I honestly think because we publicly disagreed on his running for office, his supporting Trump. I think it became too much for us to sustain our friendship."

Legend and West had a tight relationship in the past and had even worked together on a number of albums.

The Donda rapper has written songs for Legend, and the two have collaborated on features on songs like It's Over (2008) and 2005's Number One.

Legend believes that West was "not happy" about Legend's lack of backing and support after he declared his candidacy for president in the 2020 elections.

The singer added, "He was upset that I didn't support his run for presidency of the United States of America — for understandable reasons."

He continued, "I wasn't alone in that, but, you know, he was not happy about that. And we really haven't been close since then."
