Every episode brings a new character into the world of Invincible, and the most recent addition is a contentious figure who comic book readers will undoubtedly remember. Invincible: Season 2 Episode 7 is a little more laid back than the previous episodes.
Some of the smaller-scale conflicts that the various heroes of Earth are facing are Rex Splode (Jason Mantzoukas) trying to return to the field, Mark (Steven Yeun) and Amber (Zazie Beetz) trying to rekindle their relationship, and Donald (Chris Diamantopoulos) confronting his multiple past lives.
A formidable Viltrumite named Anissa (Shantel VanSanten), a notorious figure from Robert Kirkman's original comics who rose to prominence for the horrible things she did to Mark, abruptly interrupts them as they are taking Amber on a nightly date.
Anissa becomes combative as soon as she shows up in Invincible Season 2. She threatens to kill Amber in an instant unless she and Mark Grayson have a conversation.
Mark nods in agreement. Anissa is obviously dedicated to the Viltrumite Empire, even though she isn't as eager to use force as the other Viltrumites Mark has met. Anissa claims that rather than killing Mark, her objective is to convert him to the Empire.
Though she maintains that Viltrumite authority is the sole means of preserving humanity from itself, she also asserts that she does not harbor the same animosity against humans as her master, General Kregg (Clancy Brown).
When Walton Goggins's character Cecil breaks up the heated discussion, Nissa has the opportunity to demonstrate this. He informs Mark that there is a creature causing havoc on the other side of the world and that only he can travel there in time to stop the beast.
Reluctantly, Mark asks Anissa if she really cares about people, and to her surprise, she accepts his invitation to assist him in defeating the monster. Anissa fulfills her promise throughout the fight by giving the kaiju the fatal blow.
