Genevieve Angelson from New Amsterdam has been added to the cast of Hulu's original series The Handmaid's Tale for Season 5.
Additionally, Angelson shared a behind-the-scenes photo of herself dressed for the show on Twitter to share the news. After Christine Ko, Angelson is the season's second most recent acquisition.
Mrs. Wheeler, a "rich Canadian who idolises Serena and who is a driving influence behind the emergence of Gilead in Toronto," will be played by Angelson.
According to the freshly released Season 5 teaser, Serena will take advantage of Commander Waterford's passing for herself and Gilead.
As viewers already know, Serena is a calculating and clever person. Mrs. Wheeler's admiration of Serena suggests she will only bolster Serena's agenda, which could spell disaster for the resistance.
The most recent part that Angelson had before The Handmaid's Tale was that of Dr. Mia Castries in the NBC drama New Amsterdam. She has also had other recurrent appearances in programmes including The Afterparty on Apple TV.
The Handmaid's Tale first premiered in 2017 and is based on the Margaret Atwood novel of the same name.
The show mainly follows June, one of several women forced to be handmaids, whose only duty is to bear children for wealthy couples who are unable to do so themselves. Gilead is a dystopian version of the United States.
Since then, June's mission to leave Gilead and bring about its destruction with the aid of a resistance network has been recounted on the show.
On Wednesday, September 14, The Handmaid's Tale Season 5 debuts on Hulu, with new episodes coming out every week. On the streamer, the first four seasons are already available.
