The Recruit, a new Netflix original series, is why Noah Centineo chose to play the lead.

He plays a big-time action part in the drama, which follows a young lawyer at the CIA who is sucked into a global conspiracy.

This is very different from his prior appearances on the streaming site.

After playing Peter Kavinsky in the To All the Boys I've Loved Before trilogy, he initially gained notoriety on Netflix.

He then went on to appear in the teen rom-coms Sierra Burgess is a Loser and The Perfect Date.

Centineo recently spoke with Vanity Fair about his part in the upcoming Netflix movie The Recruit, which debuts on December 16.

The actor revealed that, while he still wanted to work with Netflix, "I didn’t really want to do another romantic comedy."

He took on as an executive producer and assisted the show's creator, Alexi Hawley, in bringing The Recruit to the streaming service after reading the pilot because it seemed like a "logical next step" to him.

He said,"Obviously, I love Netflix and I want to continue working with them. [But] I knew I didn’t really want to do another romantic comedy. The Recruit] felt like a natural next step. It was pretty easy to get a meeting. [Creator Alexi Hawley] pitched the hell out of it and they were pretty much sold."

The Recruit role played by Centineo looks to be the ideal vehicle for him to make the switch from romantic comedies to action movies.

his portrayal slightly bridges the gap, even though many of his Netflix followers will be used to viewing him as a teen heartthrob.
