Following the spectacular success of Aladdin, which earned over $1 billion in total revenue despite being the target of countless jokes about Will Smith's genie, some questionable casting choices, and complaints of the live-action film's director.

As it was discovered earlier in June, Guy Ritchie, the director of the biggest live-action adaptation to date, has already been awarded the reins of another Disney live-action movie, Hercules.

Aladdin will have a live-action sequel, similar to how the animated version had one.

Ritchie will be returning to the director's chair to work his live-action magic, but as has been the case with anything movie-related in recent years, the production and release dates have been pushed back.

However, there is one thing that we can say with certainty right now.

Even while the sequel isn't anticipated to arrive in theatres for another two or three years, neither Disney nor the director have made any public statements since then to confirm the speculation.

It would be unusual if he didn't get Aladdin 2 for some reason, especially after they just handed him Hercules.

Given the, uh, commotion Smith figuratively generated earlier this year, let's start with the top and possibly most crucial question.

Smith hasn't even been officially confirmed to be joining the project, and no one has yet been named to take Smith's place as the beloved blue Genie in Aladdin 2.

This is because a number of other projects have decided to drop him or distance themselves from him in the wake of the Oscars slap seen around the world.

Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott will very probably reprise their roles as Aladdin and Jasmine, respectively, since they are the two main characters of the movie. an entire spin-off? You do realise they are unpredictable?
