Wednesday, a new family series based on The Addams Family, will premiere on Netflix in November 2022. 

. Wednesday is a new Netflix Original family fantasy series directed by Tim Burton. Netflix won the bidding war for the show, outbidding all competitors to gain exclusive global distribution rights. The series was created by Al Gough and Miles Millar. 

Wednesday’s production studio, MGM TV, has already been announced, with Burton on board as an executive producer in addition to his directing duties. On the Original, Burton is joined as a producer by Jon Glickman, Andrew Mittman, and Gail Berman. 

Wednesday’s release will be a milestone in Tim Burton’s career because it will be his directorial debut on television. 

The official loglines for the series have been revealed by Netflix: Wednesday Addams’ misadventures as a student at Nevermore Academy, a one-of-a-kind boarding school tucked away in the heart of New England.  

Wednesday’s attempts to master her new psychic ability, stop a monstrous killing spree terrorising the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that engulfed her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore. 

Willa aka Wednesday Adams is starting a new chapter in her life at the academy, her parents’ two-century-old boarding school, after being kicked out of eight schools in five years. Willa, on the other hand, has no desire to return to their alma mater and is already plotting her escape. 

Wednesday Addams’ role has finally been revealed. Jenna Ortega, who Netflix subscribers should recognise by now, is playing the iconic role. Ortega has appeared in several Netflix Originals. 

She is best known for her roles as Ellie in You, Phoebe in The Babysitter: Killer Queen, and Katie Torres in Yes Day. She also plays Brooklyn in the Jurassic World animated series Camp Cretaceous.
