Top Gun 3 is not currently in the works. However, Top Gun: Maverick has established itself as a significant blockbuster, as seen by its 97% Fresh Rotten Tomatoes score, stellar reviews, and enthusiastic audience response to Top Gun 2.
It might perhaps rank among Tom Cruise's best films. Top Gun 2's numbers were only boosted by its debut over Memorial Day weekend, eventually bringing the global total into the billions.
Tom Cruise not being in Top Gun 3 may be unthinkable, but if it does happen, it is quite possible that the legendary actor will want to star in the sequel.
In addition, Miles Teller's Rooster, Glen Powell's Hangman, and Jennifer Connelly's Penny, who might return for a third Top Gun, were all successfully presented in Maverick.
