Matt and Ross Duffer recently revealed Upside Down Pictures as the name of their new production firm.

. Along with the unveiling of the new business, the Stranger Things creators also revealed their forthcoming project schedule, which includes an all-new live-action television series adaptation of the well-known Japanese manga and anime series Death Note.

Death Note began life as a manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. The series ran from 2003 to 2006.  

. The narrative centres on Light Yagami, a high school student who discovers the black book known as the Death Note and gains the ability to kill anybody by writing their name and face into it.

s criminals all around the world begin to inexplicably drop dead, the enigmatic detective simply known as L is brought in to learn who the killer is, who they call "Kira."

Tetsuro Araki, who later worked on several Attack on Titan projects and recently directed the Netflix anime feature Bubble, directed the anime adaptation of the series, which debuted in 2006 and ran for 37 episodes until 2007.

Death Note is one of the most well-known and praised series in the world, both in its written and animated incarnations. It has won several honours over the years, and the anime series has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

This is not the first time that Death Note has had a live-action adaptation, with there being several adaptations made in Japan since 2006.
