Dolly Parton provides an update on long awaited Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reboot

The long-awaited Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival receives an update from Dolly Parton, who produced the original series without receiving credit. In 2018, rumors of a Buffy revival picked up fire once more.

With Monica Owusu-Breen serving as the showrunner, the game-changing supernatural teen drama was set to undergo a relaunch thanks to that development. I

It was announced at the time that Joss Whedon, the creator of the television series, would collaborate on the script alongside Owusu-Breen and serve as an executive producer. However, original executive producer Gail Berman announced in August 2022 that the Buffy reboot is currently on hold.

Parton provided a positive update on the prospects of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer comeback in remarks to Business Insider.

The renowned musician revealed that efforts are still underway to "revamp Buffy." The artist produced both the original series and the spinoff Angel through Sandollar Productions.

Parton did not go any more detail, so it's unclear if she's talking about the Owusu-Breen project that is now on hold or something else entirely.

“They’re still working on that. They’re thinking about bringing it back and revamping it.”

Even before multiple Buffy cast and crew members accused Whedon of creating a toxic work environment, the anticipated 2018 relaunch had a rough beginning. It was unclear if the new version would take place in the same universe as the original or if a different actor would play the title character.
