Disney+ has officially renewed The Santa Clauses, the follow-up series to the popular film trilogy from the 1990s and 2000s, following the success of its first season.

Along with Richard Baker, Kevin Hench, Richard Allen, Rick Messina, and Jason Winer of Small Dog Picture Company, Jack Burditt acts as the show’s creator and executive producers. The studio is called 20th Television.

The Santa Clause, a 1995 film in which Allen appeared as a self-important toy manufacturer and businessman who was estranged from his ex-wife and kid, was Allen’s debut appearance in the character.

He finds himself forced into the role of Santa Claus one evening after an accident on his roof, at first against his will before accepting the job.

Mitchell joined the series in the follow-up, The Santa Clause 2, when she portrayed Charlie, Scott’s son, in his school. In the movie, Scott tries to court her successfully in order to get married before he loses his job as Santa Claus in a race against time.

The limited series, which was announced in January 2022 as a legacy sequel, started production in March and wrapped up quickly in June.

The three Santa Clause movies brought in about $500 million at the box office, making the franchise extremely successful and well-liked overall.

Additionally, the movies are now regularly broadcast on television during the holiday season all around the world.
