Dakota Johnson Discusses How The Debate on Nepotism Can Be Incredibly Annoying and Boring

During an interview on the Today show on Wednesday, she remarked that she finds conversations with celebrities whose parents are also celebrities or similarly powerful in the entertainment world to be really unpleasant and uninteresting.

A flurry of nepo baby discussions went popular online in 2022 after New York Magazine's widely shared cover story, How A Nepo Baby Is Born, examined the well-known and connected parents of up-and-coming superstars in forensic detail.

The actress Dakota Johnson, who is the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, stated she finds the chats extremely tedious and annoying during her appearance on the Today show on Wednesday, February 7.

She had stunt training especially for driving, and she was really enthusiastic about it, saying she had a great time.

In response to Hoda Kotb's question about Johnson making fun of her own famous position, Johnson said, "Like, if you're a journalist, write about something else."

"That’s just like, lame. So the opportunity to make fun of it, I jumped at," Johnson added.

During her Saturday Night Live hosting gig, Johnson, who has been promoting her new film Madame Web, recently made light of having famous parents.

She and comedians John Higgins and Martin Herlihy—sons of SNL producer Steve Higgins and former head writer Tim Herlihy—engaged in a nepotistic ceasefire with identical rings in a film featuring the show's ensemble Please Don't Destroy.

The actress from Fifty Shades of Grey and her father Don Johnson have been transparent about his choice to financially isolate her when she chose to pursue acting instead of going to college after high school.
