Christina Aguilera's Reaction After Her First Encounter With Drew Barrymore

More than 25 years ago, Aguilera and Barrymore first met at the well-known Los Angeles eatery The Ivy.

When Barrymore was having dinner at the restaurant, Aguilera, a young and promising singer at the time, worked up the nerve to approach her.

Aguilera hesitated a bit before introducing herself as a fan and talking about how excited she was to be making her debut album.

Aguilera was deeply touched by Barrymore's considerate and affectionate reaction to her, which demonstrated the real meaning of authentic celebrity conduct—which is rarely documented in tabloids—and had a lasting impression on her.

“I get really shy, especially the more you respect someone you’re like; I can’t even you know make eye contact. I am the weirdest nerd about that kind of thing, too. But I did have the courage to get the nerve to go say hi to you one time,” Christina said on the show.

When Aguilera saw Barrymore eating at the restaurant, the young and aspiring singer decided to confront her. Even though she was hesitant, Aguilera declared that she was a fan and that she was excited to be working on her debut album.

Drew replied, “I am so glad. That’s how people are supposed to behave.” “But then we all have our walls and we get guarded and I think depending on what day or whatever, it was just so kind of you to be just so warm and you were like, ‘Good luck with that,’” Christina said.
