According to a Netflix announcement, work on the third season of the hugely popular Regency romantic series Bridgerton has begun.

The fourth book in the series, Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, which ultimately brings Penelope and Colin's love story to an exciting finale, will be followed by the third season rather than the third book in the series, An Offer From a Gentleman.

In a brief video, actors Jonathan Bailey, Adjoah Andoh, Luke Thompson, Claudia Jesse, and Golda Rosheuvel held up two fingers before switching to three in honour of the new season.

The film also provides a first glimpse at Hannah Dodd, who will replace Ruby Stokes in the role of Francesca Bridgerton.

Even though she stated earlier this year that she would be returning for the next season, Simone Ashley, who played Kate, Vicountess Bridgerton, is not among the characters in the new video.

After making the identical hand motion as his co-stars at the end of the announcement clip, Newton exits a carriage and opens the door to see Coughlan seated inside

After being informed that the season is now under production, Newton enters the carriage with Coughlan and closes the door.

The two have a particularly memorable moment inside a carriage that is similar to that in their book, so even while it is a sweet way to conclude the film, it is likely to drive devoted Polin fans into a frenzy.

While the release date for London's newest social season is yet unknown, Netflix has provided fans of the Bridgerton family with a sneak peek at Lady Whistledown herself by revealing the identities of three new gentlemen who will be joining the tonne.

James Phoon, Sam Phillips, and Daniel Francis have all joined the cast, according to Netflix.
