Émilie (Lucie Zhang) from Paris's 13th district has just posted an ad for a new roommate, to which Camille (Makita Samba), a young teacher, has responded.

She agrees at first, then rebuffs, assuming he is a woman based on his name.

A student named Nora (Noémie Merlant) is mistaken for a cam girl named Amber Sweet (Jehnny Beth) in a different plot arc, making her a target of scorn at her high school.

As these four people's lives collide, a web of friendships, sexual tensions, and flings emerges, with the characters vacillating between the positions of friends and lovers left, right, and centre.

Audiard's film takes set in the Olympiades high rises, a community of buildings that the director loves to capture in his magnificent black and white photography.

The notion is that we're just getting a glimpse of a few stories in this section of Paris, and each of those lit windows might stand on its own.

He begins with a naked Émilie (Lucie Zhang) singing karaoke on a couch late at night to pass the time as a young woman on her own.
