Sylvester Stallone has appeared in both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Extended Universe in recent years, most notably in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and as King Shark in The Suicide Squad.

In the not-too-distant future, the actor who has starred in a number one film for the past six decades will appear in another superhero film.

This one sounds a lot more stripped down and different than anything else he's done in the genre thus far.

Despite the fact that it will be some time until we see Samaritan, a gritty drama about a superhero being dragged out of a decades-long exile, there is a lot we know about the film ahead of its release.

Samaritan will be released on August 26, 2022, however United Artists Releasing has yet to reveal if the superhero feature will be released in theatres, on Netflix, or in a hybrid format.

Previously, the film was set to be released on November 20, 2020, December 11, 2020, and June 4, 2021.

Due to production delays caused by the ongoing pandemic and its impact on movie theatres around the world, all three of those previous dates were moved back.

When Samaritan hits theatres on August 26, 2022, fans will meet Sylvester Stallone's Stanley Kominski, a superhero who appears to have vanished 20 years before to the start of the film due to a tragic tragedy.
