Hugh Jackman has previously made comments about Wolverine's MCU future after Deadpool 3.

This is before he could put back on the claws. Due to his superb 17-year depiction of the character in numerous Fox/Marvel movies, the Australian actor has become synonymous with the mutant role.

Given the problematic character rights of the X-Men, which only returned to Marvel Studios with Disney's acquisition of Fox's TV and film assets in 2019, he was never involved in the MCU during his nearly two decades playing the part.

As Wolverine in James Mangold's Logan, Jackman had already announced his retirement by then.

Even though it would have been exciting to see Jackman reprise his role as Wolverine in any future Marvel Studios films, there has always been a particular desire to see him as the Deadpool's antagonist with Adamantium-clawed hands.

Fortunately, Ryan Reynolds steadfastly pushed for Wolverine's inclusion in Deadpool 3, which influenced the Oscar-nominated actor's choice to resurrect the role and take part in the threequel.

Beyond that, however, it's unclear what lies next for the X-Men since Jackman provided an open response to a question about Wolverine's MCU future following Deadpool 3.

It's practically required that Hugh Jackman's Wolverine appear in Avengers: Secret Wars despite his brief appearance in the MCU.

The Multiverse Saga-capper still lacks a director; whether Marvel Studios hasn't chosen one or is simply delaying the announcement, this makes sense given that the movie won't be released until 2026.

There is some sort of expectation because of its title, which verifies the Marvel Comics story from which it draws inspiration. After Deadpool 3, Avengers: Secret Wars is the next best MCU project for him to feature in given his past as Wolverine.
