With the second half of season 6 scheduled to debut on July 11, the denouement of Better Call Saul is poised to get underway in less than a week.
AMC has unveiled a brand-new promo trailer for the Breaking Bad prequel series that focuses on Gene Takavic (Bob Odenkirk), the Cinnabon manager identity that Jimmy McGill, aka Saul Goodman, adopted.
In a brand-new season teaser, Gene, played by Saul Goodman, is shown being recognised by a cab driver even though he’s meant to be keeping a low profile.
‘Gene’ had previously been recognised by a mall patron, as fans may recall from the previous season.
The second half is mostly foreboding as the cab driver continually tells Odenkirk’s character to “Say it” after saying, I know who you are, you know who you are.
Odenkirk can be heard uttering his character’s iconic slogan, “Better Call Saul,” with a deep sigh. Saul’s return to New Mexico is also hinted at in the promo, which features an air freshener from Albuquerque hanging in the cab.
Although the teaser doesn’t reveal much new information, it wonderfully sets the tone for the remaining episodes of the series since a sense of mounting tension pervades the entire clip, hinting at a foreboding series finale.
The setup is one that fans of both series will be familiar with as it has been a recurring theme throughout the series.
In a previous 50-second promo video, also shot in black and white, Saul is seen as Gene in Omaha, Nebraska after the events of the iconic parent series.
Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, who played Walter White and Jesse Pinkman on the Breaking Bad television series, will make appearances in the final season, according to AMC.
