Horizon Zero Dawn, a post-apocalyptic PlayStation 4 online game released in 2017, is expected to be adapted into a Netflix series.

According to a source, Guerrilla Games' protagonist Aloy and the Machines will make their television premiere on the streaming service.

Sony and Netflix have yet to formally confirm their ambitions to transform the sport into a show.

According to Variety, Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra stated at an investor event on Tuesday that in-demand titles Horizon Zero Dawn and Gran Turismo will also be adapted.

While Variety claims that each title would be customised into a TV series, Deadline claims that Gran Turismo will be a film separate from the Horizon Zero Dawn series, with Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) in talks to direct.

Horizon Zero Dawn is a PlayStation 4 game set in a post-apocalyptic planet amidst the ruins of human civilisation. Aloy, the protagonist of the game, is a hunter and one of the few remaining survivors.

This has now been verified. Meanwhile, Naughty Dog's The Last of Us, starring Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, Wonder Woman 1984) and Bella Ramsey, will premiere on HBO in 2023. (Game of Thrones, Hilda).

In Netflix's upcoming series adaption, Aloy may have to fight the Machines once more.
