When asked in an interview about Bridgerton possibly recasting Regé-Jean Page as Simon Basset a.k.a. the Duke of Hastings, Page gave his approval.

Regé-Jean Page will always be associated with Bridgerton, despite the fact that the talented and attractive actor has said his final goodbyes to the programme that helped him become Hollywood's next great thing.

Regé-Jean Page, 34, admitted, "I haven't caught up with it," when asked if he has watched Bridgerton Season 2 in an interview with Variety at the premiere of his new film The Gray Man.

To this, Regé-Jean said, "They're free to do as they like. Shonda and I had a wonderful conversation at the end of Season 1. We were quite happy with how we stuck the landing on that one."

Page clarified the common idea that Simon Basset is a charming guy by saying that Bridgeton "did so brilliantly" on the Duke's "redemptive arc," which let people forget that Simon was "sort of awful."

Page quipped, "He was the best example of a Regency f**kboy that any of us had come across," before concluding

He added, "And so, because we came around full circle so well, because we stuck that landing, you're left with this great feeling. You really do have to be brave about ending stories like that."

Recently, Rege-Jean Page also  clarified he won't be seen in Bridgerton Season 3 after sharing a photo with Jonathan Bailey. by

However, right when rumours started to circulate that Rege-Jean Page would be playing the Duke of Hastings in Bridgerton Season 3, the actor shot them down by posting a clarification on Instagram.

Do you believe that Regé-Jean Page's role as Simon Basset, alias the Duke of Hastings, in Season 3 should be recast by Bridgerton?
