The Returned (2012)

The Returned (or Les Revenants) is a French supernatural mystery drama series based on a 2004 film that takes place in a small-town setting.


Similar to Manifest, ABC's Lost centres on a group of people on a flight that vanishes; however, unlike Manifest, the passengers in this case are left on a remote island in the Pacific.

The Leftovers 

The Leftovers, based on Tom Perrotta's book of the same name, is set after a mysterious global occurrence known as the "Sudden Departure," in which 2% of the world's population abruptly disappeared.


This Fox television series, which was created by J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman, and Roberto Orci, centred on the Boston-based FBI's Fringe Division, which looks into strange otherworldly occurrences that fit under the umbrella of "fringe science."


FlashForward takes place after a strange occurrence sends everyone in the world into a brief coma lasting just over two minutes. It was inspired by Robert J. Sawyer's science fiction novel of the same name.

Under the Dome

Under the Dome, a TV adaptation by Brian K. Vaughan of Stephen King's 2009 novel of the same name, follows a radically different path than the book.


The lives of eight strangers, called as "sensates," who unpredictably acquire the capacity to interact with one another telepathically are followed in the Netflix series Sense8.  

The OA

The OA is a Netflix mystery thriller that Brit Marling co-created and stars in. It centres around Prairie Johnson (Marling), a young woman who reappears unexpectedly after going missing for seven years.

Wayward Pines 

Wayward Pines, which was executive produced by M. Night Shyamalan and is based on the Blake Crouch novel series, explores life in the odd town of Wayward Pines, Idaho.
