WorldAMC Theatres CEO Criticizes Warner Bros. Over Its 2021 Movie Release Plans

AMC Theaters has shown criticism towards Warner Bros.’ endeavors to out its 2021 films on HBO Max on the very same day when the films will see a release in theaters. The new movies will be up for viewing to all the people having access to HBO Max for about 30 days after their release. These include some of the major projects like Dune, The Suicide Squad, and The Matrix 4.

Is Warner Bros. making sure that their streaming platform HBO Max stays alive?

Adam Aron, CEO and president of AMC Entertainment, stated to THR, “Plainly, Warner Media means to let go of an impressive bit of the productivity of its film studio division, and that of its allies in producing movies and movie producers, to finance its HBO Max startup.”With respect to AMC, we will do all in our limits to ensure that Warner doesn’t do anything like this to our detriment. We will forcefully seek after financial terms that protect our business.”

AMC has endured a few shots since the Covid pandemic started and was pushed to close down a large number of its films this year. Warner Bros. had also denoted a course of action with film chains to give a greater cut of ticket bargains – up to 60%- – in a once-off comprehension for Wonder Woman 1984 which will show up in theaters and on HBO Max on Christmas day.

The new plan laid out by Warner Bros. could turn out to be a fatal blow to theater chains, as it is during the early 30 days since release that cinemas make most of their money through films. Aron added that AMC had just started talks with Warner Bros. furthermore, that it would sell 200 million portions of stock with an aim to get through the pandemic.
