Vince Gilligan & Rhea Seehorn Reunite for Mystical Sci-Fi on Apple TV+

Vince Gilligan—creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul—is stepping into fresh territory with a new sci-fi drama for Apple TV+. He’s teaming up again with Saul star Rhea Seehorn in a mysterious series that Gilligan describes as a “grounded genre drama” with no repeats of past themes: "There’s no crime, and no methamphetamine." Instead, the show starts with a sudden shift in our familiar world, leading to long-term repercussions that fuel its emotional core.

Who’s Involved, and What We Know So Far

Serving as showrunner, creator, and executive producer, Gilligan wrote this series with Seehorn in mind, describing her character as “a bit of a damaged hero… trying very hard to be good”. The cast includes Karolina Wydra, and production wrapped in September 2024 after several months filming in Albuquerque, New Mexico—a location intimately tied to Gilligan’s storytelling.

A Sci-Fi Spin with Philosophical Depth

Gilligan hints at a narrative blending science fiction with emotional resonance, exploring philosophical themes like the human condition—some compare it to The Twilight Zone in tone, yet set within our everyday reality.

Massive Support from Apple

Apple already greenlit two seasons back in 2022, signaling major confidence in the project. A minimalist teaser—an image of a smiley-face Petri dish with the phrase “Happiness is Contagious”—dropped via Apple TV’s X account and a live YouTube countdown set for July 25 at 3 p.m. ET promises an official reveal.

What’s Next & When to Tune In

The official trailer and more details—such as the series’ title, premise, and release window—will arrive on Friday, July 25. The show is expected to premiere as part of Apple’s Fall 2025 lineup and could become a flagship series for awards season.
