Plot Summary
Dasha, portrayed by Emily Watson, is a twelve-year-old imaginative and inquisitive girl who lives in a charming Russian village and is frequently engrossed in her own fantasies and stories. Her life dramatically changes when she discovers a mysterious, antiquated book stashed in her family’s old farmhouse’s attic. Rumor has it that the book holds the secrets of “Ochi,” an old legend about a magical world where animals and humans could freely communicate.
As Dasha delves deeper into the book, she discovers she has an uncommon talent: the capacity to communicate and comprehend with animals. She begins to learn long-lost details about her village and the magical creatures that live there, which opens up a world of wonder and peril.
Dasha makes friends with a variety of animal characters throughout the narrative, such as Willem Dafoe’s wise old owl Maxim, Finn Wolfhard’s mischievous fox Petro, and Iestyn Evans’ fearless young deer Yuri.
