Story

We follow Jake Riley (Lewis Pullman), a former criminal who has established a peaceful, typical life for himself in a small town, in “Riff Raff.” He is made a good living for himself as a well-liked neighborhood mechanic, a far cry from his turbulent past.

After a protracted absence, his former family, the Wilders, unexpectedly shows up, and everything changes. Under the direction of his colorful and extravagant uncle Charlie (Bill Murray), the Wilders are a disorganized group of individuals who have been living on the periphery of society. They have returned with the intention of reconciling long-standing family conflicts that have festered for many years.

Jake is trying to adjust to his new life and deal with his family’s outlandish behavior when the reunion starts, which leads to a flurry of laughter and ridiculous situations. Jake’s hard-earned stability is put in jeopardy by his former accomplice, Rickie (Peter Davidson), who brings his own brand of mischief.

Jake is forced to face his past and the reasons he left his previous life behind as the chaos gets worse. As Jake and his family become entangled in a crazy scheme involving a heist gone wrong, mistaken identities, and a stolen relic that has everyone on edge, the story strikes a balance between comedy and crime.

The whole cast, led by Jennifer Coolidge as Jake’s eccentric neighbor who unintentionally joins in the chaos, provides heart and humor throughout the movie. The portrayals of Ed Harris and Gabrielle Union, two people whose lives unexpectedly intersect Jake’s, give depth to the ensemble.
