At The Mighty Hoopla in London, Rita Ora experienced an awkward moment when she was unable to locate fans familiar with her songs.
During the music festival at south London’s Brockwell Park, the 33-year-old artist performed a medley of her well-known tracks.
In an attempt to interact with fans, Rita stepped into the audience during her Sunday afternoon performance. Unfortunately, she couldn’t find anyone who could sing along to her track Anywhere.
A social media post from one attendee highlighted the discomfort, stating: “Rita Ora attempting to find someone in the front who could continue her song acapella was one of the most hilariously embarrassing sights ever. She then mixed up her own lyrics.”
Rita faced the predicament of not finding anyone familiar with the words and then accidentally transitioning into a different song.
The misstep aside, Rita certainly dazzled the crowd with her stage presence.
Donning a vibrant yellow jacket which she later removed while performing, Rita looked radiant. She was dressed in a white crop top paired with yellow shorts and platform lace-up boots.
Her blonde hair was styled in effortless waves complemented by bold retro sunglasses.
The setlist included her hits Your Song, Hot Right Now, Lonely Together and Praising You.
Rita has been working on her fourth studio album as she mentioned in an exclusive backstage interview with The Sun’s Bizarre column at Mighty Hoopla. She remarked: “The progress is nice and steady. I’m not rushing it, one song at a time. It’s likely not going to be completed this year. My label [BMG] is supportive, giving me the freedom to take my time.”
Rita’s new track Ask & You Shall Receive is currently out, and she attended the festival with her husband, Hollywood film director Taika Waititi, who was seen recording her performance.
Although her recent marriage was a source of inspiration for her third album, Rita shared that she wants to return to her more carefree vibes in her music.
She expressed a desire for a shift: “I’m done using my marriage as an influence. I’m eager to have fun and make music that uplifts me. If it doesn’t bring me joy, it’s not worth pursuing. That’s been a truly enlightening approach for me.”
