Former Teen Mom personality Jenelle Evans is facing a setback as she gears up to film with her sons Jace, 14, and Kaiser. David Eason, Jenelle’s now-estranged husband, has refused to allow their seven-year-old daughter Ensley to be featured on the MTV series, according to sources speaking with The U.S. Sun.
David, who has a contentious history with MTV, outright rejected the proposition put forward by the show’s production team for Ensley to join the program. “David hates MTV. There was no way he was going to let them film with Ensley after they fired him and then Jenelle,” an insider divulged.
“They’ll have a really hard time filming around Ensley, she’s a whole personality so I’m not sure how that will go down,” the source continued. Nathan Griffith, Kaiser’s father, was approached by MTV, who agreed to consider Kaiser’s return provided that his earnings from the show are secured for the future. “Nathan knows the kids being on the show can set them up in the future. He’s currently in talks with MTV and he’s ready to allow Kaiser to be filmed, he just wants to make sure the money is protected for his son before he gives a definitive yes,” revealed another source.
Regarding Jace, since his biological father Andrew Lewis neither has custody rights nor involvement in his life, the teenager is free to film for the series. It is believed that Jace’s contract with MTV has been finalized and signed.
One cannot forget that Jenelle was let go from MTV in 2019 after David Eason admitted to shooting and killing their family dog Nugget. David had been dismissed from the network the year before over various controversies. MTV’s position at the time was clear: “MTV ended its relationship with David Eason over a year ago in February 2018 and has not filmed any new episodes of Teen Mom 2 with him since.” Furthermore, regarding Jenelle’s participation, MTV stated, “Additionally, we have stopped filming with Jenelle Eason as of April 6, 2019, and have no plans to cover her story in the upcoming season.”
Despite this, Jenelle is slated to return to the Teen Mom franchise, as seen in a trailer for Teen Mom: The Next Chapter released in early May, where Jenelle can be seen expressing her hopes for a fresh start.
