Comedy performer MATT Rife has unexpectedly called off two shows in Indiana.
On Wednesday, Rife took to Instagram and X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to break the news.
The 28-year-old comedian was slated to take the stage at the Indiana University Auditorium in Bloomington, with performances at 7 pm and 10 pm as listed on WIBC Indiana.
Nonetheless, around 7:40 pm, the comedian, known for his Netflix appearances, conveyed that the shows were being postponed due to a health concern.
“INDIANA: I’m so f**king sorry, but due to a last minute medical emergency I have to reschedule our shows tonight (again).
“I’ve been doing 40+ shows a month for a year and half and never had to do something like this, I’m so so sorry, I hope you understand and I love you so much,” he expressed on X.
Responding on his own post, he remarked, “Refunds are being issued, working on it now. Sorry again.”
While Matt reassured ticket purchasers of a refund, he did not elaborate on the specifics of the medical incident.
RESPONSES FROM CONCERNED FANS
Many of Rife’s followers swiftly showed compassion on his thread, sending well-wishes amidst the troubling update.
“Take care yourself. You’re the ONLY one that can do that for YOU!” commented a fan.
“The boy’s killing himself for his craft. But he’s a great one,” another chimed in.
“Matt don’t be sorry. Health always comes first. Hope you get better!” a third user added.
However, there were those who expressed dissatisfaction with the sudden postponement.
“Everyone saying ‘Hope you’re good, bro. Take care of yourself’ didn’t just waste $600 on tickets plus hotel room and travel. Canceling the same venue twice? D**k move!” one dissatisfied fan remarked.
“Drove 3 hours to see you man. This was a waste,” another complained.
Some other responses highlighted that perhaps Matt was exerting himself too much, referencing a recent jest he made about his inadequate sleep on X.
“Sometimes I feel 98 years old and then I remember I sleep maybe 14 hours a week if I’m lucky so I am quite literally a corpse,” said Rife on X on May 26.
