Trump Attends UFC 309 with Top Allies and Cabinet Picks, Leads 'USA, USA' Chant
President-elect Donald Trump made a high-profile appearance cageside at the UFC pay-per-view event in New York City on Saturday night, drawing cheers and chants of "USA, USA" as he entered Madison Square Garden. He was flanked by key cabinet picks and elected officials, including Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Tulsi Gabbard. Musk and Ramaswamy, both selected by Trump to lead a new Department of Government Efficiency, were by his side, along with Robert Kennedy Jr., Trump's pick for Secretary of Health and Human Services, and Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).
Trump's presence at the event was further bolstered by his sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, along with UFC President Dana White, a longstanding Trump supporter who has frequently attended campaign events with him. White, who hosted a UFC event at the Trump Taj Mahal in 2001, has maintained a close relationship with Trump throughout his political career.
This appearance came on the heels of Trump's announcement of his pick for Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright, the CEO of Liberty Energy. Trump expressed his enthusiasm about Wright joining his administration, underscoring his commitment to making rapid changes and implementing his "America First" agenda. Trump's swift announcement of cabinet appointments marks a stark contrast to the slower pace seen during his 2016 election transition.
In a statement, Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for Trump's transition team, emphasized the significance of the speedy rollout of these appointments, stating that Trump was acting on his mandate from the American people to prioritize the country’s needs.
