Tragic Shooting in Downtown Orlando Leaves 2 Dead, 7 Injured

Early Friday morning, a Halloween celebration in downtown Orlando turned tragic when two men were killed and seven others were injured during a shooting near East Central Boulevard and North Orange Avenue. Orlando Police responded around 1:07 a.m., initially receiving reports of shots fired, with additional calls coming minutes later from nearby Washington Street. Amidst the chaos, a ninth person was trampled as people scrambled to flee the area.

Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith confirmed that a 17-year-old suspect with a prior record was taken into custody. Video footage reveals a large crowd of an estimated 50,000–100,000 people dispersing rapidly as gunshots rang out.

The injured were transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC), where two victims remain in critical condition. Here’s the current update on the victims' conditions:

  • Injured: Ranging from 18 to 39 years old with gunshot wounds affecting the leg, hand, head, and back
  • Additional Injury: A 26-year-old Hispanic female suffered injuries from being trampled

Police have since reopened roads in the area, and anyone with further information is encouraged to contact Central Florida Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online.
