Tragic Double Homicide in Encino: “American Idol” Music Supervisor and Husband Found Shot

On July 14, 2025, LAPD officers performed a welfare check at a luxurious Encino residence after family members hadn’t heard from the homeowners for days. Inside, they discovered 70-year-old Robin Kaye—a seasoned music supervisor known for her work on American Idol—and her husband, musician Thomas Deluca, each with fatal gunshot wounds to the head. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe they returned home to find an intruder in the house, resulting in a violent confrontation.

Break-In Attempt Earlier in the Week

As early as July 10, neighbors reported seeing a suspicious individual on the property. Police responded but found no forced entry and left. Subsequent video reveals a suspect entering through an unlocked door.

On July 15, authorities arrested 22‑year‑old Raymond Boodarian of Encino, who is believed to have acted alone. The arrest, made without incident, followed surveillance- and facial-recognition-supported leads. Investigators categorized the murders as opportunistic, noting no prior connection between the suspect and the couple.

Who Were the Victims?

Robin Kaye had a distinguished career in music supervision, most notably working on American Idol for over a decade, as well as projects like Lip Sync Battle and Miss Universe. Her husband, Thomas Deluca, was a musician and songwriter who released his latest album, Street Rock, in 2022.

Ongoing Investigation

Police are reviewing the timeline of events, including the earlier burglary call and the delay in officers entering the home. The weapon has not been found, and detectives are pursuing additional leads. The case remains open as LAPD gathers more evidence from surveillance and forensic material.
