Starting at $900, Samsung will release its much awaited new Odyssey OLED gaming displays.

Samsung chose not to participate in Computex 2024 but still managed to unveil exciting details about its upcoming OLED gaming monitors. These monitors, the Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SD model) and Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SD model), were initially showcased at CES in January and are now available for order, complete with official pricing and enticing offers. The larger Odyssey OLED G8 is priced at $1,300, while the more compact Odyssey G6 comes in at $900, accompanied by a tempting offer of up to a $300 credit for future purchases.

The Odyssey OLED G8 boasts a 32-inch 4K UHD display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, a remarkable 240Hz refresh rate, 250 nits of SDR brightness, and an impressive 0.03ms gray-to-gray (GtG) response time. It marks Samsung’s foray into the realm of smart monitors with AI capabilities, powered by the Samsung NQ8 AI Gen 3 processor, enabling seamless 4K projection through the Samsung Gaming Hub and Smart TV apps. Conversely, the Odyssey OLED G6 features a slightly smaller 27-inch QHD display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, boasting a remarkable 360Hz refresh rate and the same swift 0.03ms GtG response time.

Both monitors utilize Samsung’s Tizen monitor operating system and incorporate advanced OLED Safeguard+ burn-in protection technology, a dynamic cooling system, and auto-brightness adjustment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Additionally, Samsung has extended the warranty for its OLED displays from one year to three years, underscoring its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Moreover, the monitors feature OLED glare-free technology, which significantly reduces light reflection while preserving color accuracy and image sharpness. They come equipped with ergonomic and height-adjustable stands, supporting tilt, swivel, pivot motions, and VESA mounting, catering to diverse user preferences and setups. Furthermore, the built-in ambient light feature, CoreLighting+, adds a touch of flair by adjusting according to the game’s color scheme, enhancing the overall gaming experience.

In terms of connectivity, both monitors offer ample input options, including two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4, and three USB 3.0 ports, ensuring seamless integration with various gaming setups and peripherals.

Samsung’s dominance in the OLED space is well-established, with the brand spearheading the adoption of OLED gaming monitors since late 2022, setting a benchmark for competitors like LG and Alienware. With OLED gaming monitors projected to capture over a quarter of the gaming monitor market by the end of 2024, Samsung’s commitment to innovation and excellence underscores its determination to maintain its leadership position in the industry.

As anticipation builds for the release of the Odyssey OLED G8 and G6, gamers and tech enthusiasts alike eagerly await the opportunity to experience these highly anticipated gaming monitors firsthand. With their cutting-edge features, stunning visuals, and unparalleled performance, the Odyssey OLED series promises to elevate the gaming experience to new heights, solidifying Samsung’s reputation as a trailblazer in the gaming monitor arena.
