Tara Reid Claims Drink Was Spiked at Chicago Hotel Bar

Tara Reid says what should have been a routine night out ended in a frightening ordeal. According to the actress, she checked into a hotel near Chicago, had a drink at the bar, left it unattended for a moment, and when she returned it was covered with a napkin. She claims she drank it anyway — and soon found herself waking up in a hospital bed, eight hours later, with no memory of how she got there.

What Happened That Night

Reid says she arrived at the hotel late Saturday night in the suburbs of Chicago and headed to the bar. Around 10:30 p.m., she ordered a glass of wine and went outside briefly to smoke a cigarette. She recalls encountering a group of YouTubers in the lobby during that time. When she returned to her drink, she found it covered by a napkin — something she insists she didn’t place there. After taking a sip, she says she blacked out and woke in a hospital eight hours later.

The hotel in question: near Rosemont, Illinois, just outside Chicago. Authorities say a medical call came in for a “sick person” at approximately 12:39 a.m. Sunday morning at the hotel.

Her Account and Hospital Visit

Reid described the experience as disorienting: after waking, she was told at the hospital that she had been drugged, although she could not get specifics on what substance it might have been. She told reporters: “It was all kind of vague. It was all very blurry... I can’t even explain it, because I don’t even know what happened.”

In the footage obtained by media outlets, Reid is seen being helped into a wheelchair in the hotel lobby, slurring and disoriented, then later being placed on a stretcher and transported by paramedics.

Reid’s representative stated that she has filed a police report and is cooperating fully with the investigation. She is also urging others to take extra care with their drinks, especially in social settings where drinks may be left unattended.

That said, law enforcement confirmed the emergency call and transport but say no formal report has been received regarding the alleged drugging as of the last update.

Context: Why It’s Significant

  • This incident touches on drink-spiking risks, prompting renewed discussion about vigilance in bars, hotels, and nightlife environments.
  • For Reid, who has in previous years addressed struggles with substance use and public scrutiny, the allegation also carries personal implications.
  • The combination of serious medical concern, public footage of her in distress, and the setting — a hotel bar — means the story is being treated with both public interest and safety urgency.

What’s Next

Reid says she is focusing on recovery and is requesting privacy while the investigation unfolds. She is not making additional public comments at this stage. The investigation could include reviewing security footage, interviewing the hotel staff and other patrons, and possibly toxicology reports if consent and evidence are available. For the public, the case underscores the importance of never leaving a drink unattended and being alert to unusual circumstances in social settings.
