The story follows young Jim Hopper, Bob Newby, and Joyce Maldonado as they navigate everyday high school life. But when a new student, Henry Creel, arrives in town, things take a dark turn. His family struggles with a fresh start, and the past begins to reveal sinister secrets.
The play explores Henry Creel’s origins in greater depth than ever before, connecting directly to the upcoming Stranger Things Season 5. Ross Duffer explains, “While Season 5 explores Henry’s backstory, the play provides a much deeper understanding of who he was—and how and why he became Vecna.”
A Star-Studded Cast Reprising Their Roles
Fans of the West End production will be thrilled to know that Louis McCartney will reprise his role as Henry Creel when Stranger Things: The First Shadow arrives on Broadway in Spring 2025. McCartney’s performance in the London production earned him the 2024 Stage Debut Award for Best Performer in a Play and the Critics’ Circle Theatre Award for Most Promising Newcomer.
