In a historic first, Florida is set to host the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for elite male and female long-distance runners in Orlando on Saturday, Feb. 3, starting at 10 a.m.

The competition will see the top three male and female finishers earning the opportunity to represent Team USA. Athletes will navigate a challenging course through downtown Orlando, covering one 2.2-mile loop in the business district, followed by three 8-mile loops to the Milk District and back, totaling approximately 26 miles.

An impressive prize pool of $600,000 will be distributed among the top 10 racers, with the winner receiving $80,000 and the 10th-place finisher receiving $7,000.

The race is scheduled to commence at 407 N. Magnolia Ave. and culminate in front of the Walt Disney Amphitheater at Lake Eola Park. Given the event’s magnitude, some roads near and along the course may experience closures or restricted access on the day of the trials. A detailed map highlighting potential road closures is available below.

Anticipating a significant turnout, an estimated 60,000 to 100,000 spectators are expected to line the streets of downtown Orlando. Designated viewing areas along the marathon route will provide ample opportunities for spectators to cheer on the runners, including at the start and finish lines. Additional viewing zones are planned at prominent locations such as the Dr. Phillips Center and City Hall. This event marks a milestone for Florida, showcasing the state as a premier host for such prestigious sporting competitions.
