The Sacramento Kings will be without backup forward Trey Lyles for their upcoming matchup against the Phoenix Suns, as confirmed just 30 minutes before tip-off. Lyles’ absence adds to the Kings’ challenges, particularly considering their already depleted forward rotation.

Trey Lyles, sidelined due to illness, will not be available for tonight’s game against the Phoenix Suns.

With Sasha Vezenkov also expected to miss his ninth game out of the last 11 due to undisclosed reasons, the Kings face significant roster setbacks as they prepare to take on the formidable Phoenix squad.

Lyles, who missed the first 13 games of the season, has been a consistent presence for the Kings, featuring in all but one game since his return. As a valuable wing off the bench, he has contributed an average of 7.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per game this season. However, his performances against Phoenix have been lackluster, being held scoreless in two out of three meetings.

Despite Lyles’ absence, the Kings hold a 2-1 advantage over the Suns this season and aim to extend their lead to 3-1 in the series during their clash in Phoenix. In response to Lyles’ absence, it is expected that Alex Len will see increased minutes as the backup center, altering Sacramento’s lineup away from the small ball approach.

The absence of Lyles and Vezenkov will provide opportunities for other wings to step up, with young forward Kessler Edwards potentially receiving more playing time in their absence.
