India secured a commendable fifth-place finish at the FIH Hockey5s Men’s World Cup in Muscat, Oman, by defeating Egypt 6-4 in a gripping match on Wednesday.

The Indian team exhibited dominance from the start, with goals coming from Mohammed Raheel (8′), Pawan Rajbhar (9′), Maninder Singh (10′, 23′), Mandeep Mor (11′), and Uttam Singh (13′). This flurry of goals within six minutes set the tone for India’s assertive performance.

In response to India’s early lead, Egypt mounted a spirited comeback, with captain Amr Sayed scoring on either side of halftime. However, India maintained control, and Maninder Singh found the back of the net again in the second half, further extending India’s advantage.

Despite Egypt’s determined efforts, including goals from Mostafa Ragab (23′) and Karim Atef (24′), India strategically shifted focus to defense and ball possession to secure a 6-4 victory in the match. The win secured India a fifth-place finish in the FIH Hockey5s Men’s World Cup, showcasing their skill and resilience in the competition.
