Tennis Star Novak Djokovic burst into tears after winning the Australian Open title by defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece in straight sets at the Rod Laver Arena. The legendary player described his victory as the most challenging and the biggest one of his career.

“Only my team and family know what we have been through these past 4-5 weeks, this is probably the biggest victory in my life considering the circumstances.” He said.

Exactly an year ago, Novak was not allowed to play in Australia after he tried to participate in the tournament without getting vaccinated. The Serb returned this year to lift the trophy. Novak just dropped a single set on his way to the victory in spite of his hamstring issue since the first round.

“When I went into my box, I just think emotionally collapsed there and teared up with especially my mother and my brother, when I gave them a hug, because up to that moment I was not allowing myself to be distracted with things off the court or whatever was happening in dealing with an injury, things happening off the court, as well, that could easily have been a big disturbance to my focus, to my game.”

Praises from all corners!

Novak Djokovic received praises from all corners after his record breaking 10th Australian Open win. “Can’t remember a time I was this happy for someone winning a tennis match.” Vasek Pospisil wrote on his Twitter handle. Nine-time Grand Slam champion, Kristina Mladenovic wrote, “What he went through last year and to come back winning it this way….#GreatestOfAllTime”

Rising Tennis star Carlos Alcaraz too congratulated his idol, “Congratulations for the Australian Open and the world number 1! Very well deserved! Hope to see you soon on court!” Retired legends Rod Laver and Billie Jean King too congratulated the Serb.

The Internet lauds Novak Djokovic as the ‘Greatest Of All Time’ and rightfully so.
